BL Santhosh appointed as BJP General Secretary (Organisation)
BJP National President Shri Amit Shah on 14 July, 2019 appointed party’s National Joint General Secretary (Organisation) Shri B.L. Santhosh as its General Secretary (Organisation), a day after BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) Shri Ram Lal after holding the responsibility for around 13 years moved back to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and appointed as its ‘Akhil Bharatiya Sah Sampark Pramukh’.
Congratulating Shri BL Santhosh, former BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) Shri Ramlal in a tweet said:
“Hearty congratulations to Shri @blsanthosh ji on being appointment by the BJP as the National General Secretary (Organisation). Santhoshji is capable, energetic, and hardworking. Surely his appointment as National General Secretary (Organisation) will give new momentum and height to the party. Many good wishes”.
Shri BL Santhosh hails from Chamarajangara in South Karnataka but was born and raised in Bengaluru. From a humble family background, he rises to the top by dint of his merit and hardwork.
Shri BL Santhosh is an RSS ‘Pracharak’ with vast experience in political field, especially in Karnataka and is considered among one of the most prominent ideologues, who is well-versed with the poll dynamics and party organizational functioning.
He had been party’s General Secretary (Organisation) for eight years in Karnataka since 2006 before he assumed the responsibility of BJP National Joint General Secretary (Organisation) and in-charge of southern states in 2014.
As General Secretary (Organisation) of BJP in Karnataka, Shri Santhosh was also involved in the growth of the party in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. However, apart from the South Indian States he worked in several other States also, including UP, Gujarat and North Eastern States.
Besides being a full time Swayamsevak of RSS since 1993, Shri BL Santhosh held many responsibilities in Sangha from the grassroots level like Mandal Pracharak, Jilla Pracharak, Saha Vibhag Pracharak, Vibhag Pracharak at Shimoga before taking the responsibility of General Secretary (Organisation) of BJP in Karnataka in 2006.
An Engineer by profession before entering into the RSS he has also a passion for reading, specifically on environment, science, national security and how political theories work.
Shri BL Santhosh can also fluently speak five languages — English, Hindi, Kannada, Tamil and Tulu.
With a renewed focus of the party on southern states, north-east and other parts of the country over the next years, Shri BL Santhosh’s appointment is certainly expected to boost the image and organizational strength of the party.
‘Ram Lal a father figure to many like me’: BL Santhosh
BJP National General Secretary (Organisation) Shri BL Santhosh rightly mentioned, Shri Ramlal as a father figure to many like him.
Shri BL Santhosh after taking the responsibility lauded Shri
Ramlal for his decade-long service to the party. He tweeted:

Shri Ramlal is considered to be rooted to the ground and is known to take organizational meetings routinely. He shunned publicity and his low-key style in public life inspired the Karyakartas a lot. Till date Shri Ramlal has been the longest serving National General Secretary (Organisation) of the party and his tenure was marked by smooth coordination within the party and organisation.
With his guardian like nature, he handled every task with an ease. Every Karyakartas of the party whether he was a senior member of the party or a newcomer can easily approach him and share his/her thoughts with him.
Shri Ramlal, born on 22 December, 1952 in Digh, Bharatpur district of Rajasthan is a law graduate and joined RSS as Pracharak in 1974. Before becoming the Kshetra Pracharak of Brij, Meerut and Uttaranchal Prant in 2000; he held many other responsibilities in Sangha. He participated with Babu Jay Parkash Narayan during emergency days and was confined behind bars with him for eight months in Meerut Jail. His father was a freedom fighter and even his entire family has been devoted for educational and social welfare works of the society. Shri Ramlal entered into BJP in 2006 and got the responsibility of National General Secretary (Organisation) in 2007.
Shri Ramlal, who was earlier active in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) since the Emergency days, has returned to his mother organization on 13 July, 2019 and will conduct the Sangh’s outreach programme as its ‘Akhil Bharatiya Sah Sampark Pramukh’.
As BJP National General Secretary (Organisation), he worked with three BJP Presidents: Shri Rajnath Singh, Shri Nitin Gadkari and Shri Amit Shah. As Shri Ramlal exits the BJP, he leaves a mark in the party’s history, holding one of the key responsibilities when it is at its peak.
