BJP leader Kiran Maheshwari is no more

BJP leader and Rajsamand MLA Smt. Kiran Maheshwari (59) lost her battle with Covid-19 and passed away at a hospital in Gurugram on November 29. Born on October 29, 1961, in Ratlam, Smt. Kiran Maheswari entered public life at the age of 24 and went on to win a term in Lok Sabha election and three consecutive terms in assembly from Rajsamand. Smt. Maheshwari was elected to Lok Sabha from Udaipur-Rajsamand seat in 2004, when she defeated Girija Vyas of Congress. She was elected an MLA from Rajsamand for the first time in 2008 and she held the post of Higher Education Minister in the previous BJP government in the State.

She also served as the BJP National Secretary in 2011 and National Vice-President in 2013. She was earlier the BJP Mahila Morcha’s National President in 2006.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, and several other leaders condoled Smt. Maheshwari’s demise.

PM Modi tweeted “Pained by the untimely demise of Kiran Maheshwari Ji. Be it as MP, MLA or Cabinet Minister in the Rajasthan Government, she made numerous efforts to work towards the progress of the state and empower the poor as well as marginalised. Condolences to her family. Om Shanti.

BJP National President said in a tweet, “Saddened to hear the news of the demise of former Rajasthan government minister and senior BJP leader Smt. Kiran Maheshwari. Her entire life was devoted to service to the nation, society and organization. May God give peace to the departed soul and strength to the family to bear this grief.”
