RAMLAL

Jan Sangha was established on 21st October 1951 under the leadership of Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee with eleven members. Since then till now party’s journey has moved in the form of Jan Sangh to Janata Party and then to Bharatiya Janata Party. Today BJP has emerged as the largest party in terms of organizational and electoral politics. Today maximum number of Chief Ministers, MPs, MLAs, District Panchayat Presidents, Mayors are from BJP. Under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, we have a government at the Center with full majority and under the Presidentship of Shri Amit Shah BJP has the maximum number of party membership.

The journey till now has not been very smooth. Many ups and downs came. Martyrdom of two party presidents Dr. Mookerjee and Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay took place. In the national movements many karyakartas sacrificed their lives, got wounded and went to jail. The time of victory and loss also came. Since 1951, the party consistently progressed, and the workers did not lose heart even when in 1984 the party could secure only two MPs. Everyone together led the party ahead and brought it to present stage. Almost all the movements that took place between 1951 to 1975 were conducted by Jan Sangha. All the movements were organized with the aim of securing unity and integrity of the nation, safety of borders, and to ensure India’s prestige and dignity.

The Kashmir movement, Liberation of Goa, Kutch Movement, Berubari Agitation and movement against Shimla Agreement are some examples. It led to the building of nationalist image of the party. Millions of nationalist minded people felt that there was someone among the political parties who was raising their voice.

The motto of Jan Sangha has never only been to win elections and form government. It considered organization and government not an end in itself but means to serve people and build a strong India. ‘Sashakta Bharat, Samartha Bharat’ became the guiding mantra of the party.

In 1975, after the imposition of emergency Atal ji, Advani ji, and many other party workers were arrested. Many party karyakartas offered their arrest by undertaking satyagraha. Karyakartas and their families had to suffer a lot during this process, many karyakartas died in jails. The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh fought vigorously along with other opposition parties to protect the democracy. After the elections were declared, different opposition parties formed Janata Party. Even being bigger political party, Jan Sangha accepted its merger in the Janata Party. This effort to end dictatorship and to protect democracy got successful and in March 1977 Janata Party formed the government with massive majority. Unfortunately, this experiment did not last long. On the issue of double membership, all leaders of Jan Sangha left the Janata Party and formed Bharatiya Janata Party in 1980 under the leadership of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee. In Mumbai he declared, “Andhera Chhantega – Suraj Niklega – Kamal Khilega.

In the meanwhile the movement regarding the Ram Janmabhoomi was started under the leadership of highly venerated saints of the country. To expose the real face of pseudo secularism and to build faith in Indian national symbols Shri LK Advani ji started the Ram Rath Yatra from Somanath to Ayodhya. It got massive support from the people. It not only awakened people on a massive scale, but also changed the contours of Indian politics which impacted the coming elections. From1989 onwards (Except the year 2009), the number of BJP MPs has only increased. After 1989, BJP came into power in many states and also in centre, first for 13 days, then for 13 months with NDA allies, it later came for full five years and the NDA government was formed.

BJP government while undertook many welfare works for the people, at the same time it worked consistently for enhancing the prestige and respect of India.

Under the leadership of Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, Ekta Yatra from Lal Chowk to Kanyakumari was one unique initiative for kindling the sense of national pride. Entire nation stood with national pride with tricolours in hands.

When the Pokharan nuclear test was conducted there was a wave of national pride not only in India but in the entire world and Shri Atal ji did not bend before the economic sanctions imposed by many big countries. Any citizen should always have respect for the army and security forces of his country. The honour with which bodies of Kargil martyrs who had sacrificed their lives for the country were brought back to their homes made entire India salute the bravery and courage of Indian army.

Many reformative steps were taken during NDA-I to bring transparency and qualitative change in politics. For example open voting in the Rajya Sabha election, restraining the council of ministers to fifteen percent of the house strength etc. Despite all efforts of connecting the country in many ways through Air, Rail, Road, Mobile connectivity in 2004, BJP could not win again. Even then BJP did not sit idle from 2004 to 2014. It fought a long battle against corruption in the country. On many issues of people’s interests movements were organized from local level to national level.

In the meantime Gujarat became the model of good governance and development, and the image of Shri Narendra Modi emerged at the national level. Party declared him as the candidate for Prime Ministership. Under his leadership every Karyakarta worked very hard. People had lost faith in Congress. People believed Congress to be the symbol of corruption and scams. BJP government got full support of people as a symbol of clean conduct and transparency. On 26th May 2014, after 30 years under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi a single party got full majority and BJP led NDA government was formed.
In these four years the organization achieved multidimensional expansion. New dimesions were added to the organization. Due to the inspiration of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay the central government and state government worked by focusing on the welfare of poor. As a consequence of these, the poor people felt for the first time that the government is sincerely thinking about them. The programmes were made for village, towns and cities including every section of the society. On the one side there is programme of smart city, the talk of soil health card and crop insurance is on the other.

When there is discussions to give 1.5 times of the cost of production as MSP to farmers, one million families of the country are being brought under the Ayushman scheme of Rs. 5 lakh annual health insurance.

There are many other similar schemes going on for farmers and labourers. In next few years the target is to make electricity available in every household and every village. The Swatchta has become a people’s movement and the toilet construction work is going on with rapid pace. The work to give gas connection to every home is moveing ahead rapidly making every house smoke free while safeguarding health of its members. This government also has the achievement of bringing happiness to common men and launching 100 satellites in one go. The Indian people have the faith that the government is moving ahead in the direction of development, and increasing the respect of the country at international level.

Now political parties cannot take donation of more than two thousand rupees, such decisions are certainly a step towards clean politics. Not only which seems good to the people but also the decisions which are good for the people have been taken. The Demonetisation and GST are in the long-term interests of the country. The surgical strike conducted by army with the approval of the Government has increased the status of the country.

Due to all these party is moving ahead and succeeding at every level in the electoral politics. The recent Tripura win is an example where from zero seats, a government with 3/4th majority has been formed. In many states party has got support of fifty percent votes which is important. It is with everyone’s effort that this victory continues.

In the centenary year of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyay, ambitious expansion plan for the party was made.3,730 Vistarak for one and half year, 2,72,958 Alpakalin Vistrak for 15 days came out who contacted 6,13,947 booths. More than 15 crore pamphlets and 4 crore booklets were distributed. The ideology of BJP and achievements of BJP governments were taken at the ground level and discussed from house to house.

As a result of all these efforts, the work to make party organization active at booth level, the appointment of Panna Pramukh- the head of every electoral page of voting list, has gained momentum. Booth Committees and Panna Pramukhs are such internal strength of the party which has the power to respond to every challenge.

The party has always set the agenda of guarding the nation, protecting the democracy, ensuring dignity of symbols of faith, national pride, development and good governance in the country. It is because of BJP that dynastic politics, casteism and politics of appeasement is coming to an end in politics.

The 38 years of journey of the party has gone through many tough times, many party karyakartas have sacrificed their lives. Thus it is the day to remember all previous national presidents and veteran leaders, and sacrifices of hundreds of karyakartas and to take the pledge that the success will give us happiness, but we will not stop here satisfied.

We will go further, and will work for nationalism with the motto of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas’ with more energy and devote ourselves in the service of nation and people.
