BJP rises from FOUR to 48 seats in GHMC elections


Huge victory for BJP in Telangana

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) election results declared on December 4 witnessed huge surge in BJP’s tally, while the ruling TRS witnessed a sharp decline in its performance. The BJP went up from 4 seats in 2016 to 48 seats in 2020. The TRS declined from 99 to 55 seats. The Congress Party somehow managed to win only two seats. Asaduddin Owaisi’s AIMIM retained 44 seats. This big gain for BJP is being seen as BJP emerging as a big force in Telangana.

The election was held on 150 seats of GHMC. However, none of the parties crossed the simple majority mark of 76 out of 150 seats.

BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda expressed gratitude to people of Hyderabad for their faith & support. Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah tweeted on this remarkable performance by the BJP, “Gratitude to the people of Telangana for reposing faith in PM @NarendraModi led BJP’s Politics of Development. Congratulations to Shri @JPNadda ji and Shri @bandisanjay_bjp for BJP’s astounding performance in GHMC. I applaud the hard work of our karyakartas of @BJP4Telangana.”

BJP National General Secretary (Organization) Shri BL Santhosh in his tweet said, “Inspite of the brute use of corrupt money, absolute abuse of power by @trspartyonline, @BJP4Telangana is only 8456  votes less in #GHMC elections . That makes 48 seat win more sweeter . We have arrived . Congratulations @bandisanjay_bjp @kishanreddybjp”

Talangana BJP President Shri Bandi Sanjay Kumar reacting on the results said, “The BJP’s win in the November 10 Dubbaka by-election was the defeat of T Harish Rao, the nephew of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The GHMC polls have dealt a bigger defeat to K T Rama Rao, the son of the CM (he led the TRS campaign).”

The BJP decided to deploy its national leaders for GHMC polls. BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda,Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath campaigned in the elections for the party’s candidates and held huge public meetings. Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda held a masssive roadshow in Hyderabad. The roadshow was conducted from the Nagole Chowrasta to Kothapet Chowrasta in the city and received massive support from the people.
