Former MP CM Kailash Chandra Joshi passes away

Former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Kailash Chandra Joshi passed away at 90 on November 24, 2019. He was not well for last two years. In April, he was diagnosed with pulmonary complications and was also suffering from diabetes-related complications. The last rites was performed on November 25 at his ancestral town Hatpipalya in Dewas district.

President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind said on the demise of the leader “Sorry to hear of the passing of Shri Kailash Joshi. A political worker, leader and remarkable legislator, Shri Joshi will be remembered for his work for the development and growth of Madhya Pradesh and its people. His demise leaves a huge void in our public life.”

On his demise leaders from across parties expressed their condolences. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi expressing his condolences said in a tweet . “Kailash Joshi Ji was a stalwart who made a strong contribution towards Madhya Pradesh’s growth. He worked hard to strengthen Jan Sangh and BJP in Central India. He made a mark as an effective legislator. Pained by his demise. Condolences to his family and supporters. Om Shanti.”

The BJP National President and Home Minister Shri Amit Shah condoled Shri Kailash Joshi’s death. He tweeted, “Received the news of sad demise of former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Kailash Joshi. He was a leader who was down to earth and all stood for welfare of the public. He played an important role in building the organisation in MP. I express my condolences to his family.”

The BJP Working President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda said in a tweet “I am extremely sad on the demise of former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh and senior leader of the BJP Shri Kailash Chandra Joshi ji. His demise is irreparable loss to the organization. I express my condolences to his grief-stricken family. I pray to god that his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti!”

On the demise of Shri Kailash Joshi, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shri Kamal Nath tweeted, “The demise of Kailashji, who was a soft-spoken, simple, congenial person, is an irreparable loss in the field of politics. My condolences to the family. May god grant them the power to bear this grief in their shrine.”

BJP leader and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shri Shivraj Singh Chouhan tweeted, “Today, Madhya Pradesh has lost one of its gems. Kailash Joshi, who committed his whole life to the upliftment and welfare of the poor and deprived, will always remain in the hearts of the people of Madhya Pradesh. I pay homage to the departed soul. Om Shanti!”

Born on July 14, 1929, Kailash Joshi, who was called as the ‘saint of politics’, served as the state’s Chief Minister from 1977 to 1978. He was MLA for eight terms and also served as member of both the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha.

As a member of the Lok Sabha he represented the Bhopal constituency in Madhya Pradesh.

The former chief minister is survived by three sons and three daughters. His wife died a few months back.
