Former Union Minister Dilip Gandhi Passes Away

Former Union Minister and BJP leader Shri Dilip Gandhi, also a former MP from Ahmednagar, passed away in New Delhi on March 17. He was 69.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi paying condolence said that he was saddened by the demise of Shri Gandhi. “He will be remembered for his rich contributions to community service and helping the poor,” he said. “He made numerous efforts to strengthen the BJP in Maharashtra. Condolences to his family and supporters. Om Shanti.”

BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda paid condolence and said, “The news of the demise of former Union Minister and senior BJP leader Shri Dilip Gandhi is very sad. His entire life was dedicated to social service and strengthening organization. May God give peace to the departed soul and strength to the family in this hour of grief. Om Shanti Om!”

Union Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh said he was anguished by the BJP leader’s death. “He distinguished himself as an able administrator & Parliamentarian,” he said. “He worked towards the welfare of farmers & other weaker sections of our society. Condolences to his family and well wishers. Om Shanti!”

He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter. Shri Gandhi had represented the Ahmednagar seat in Lok Sabha for three consecutive terms. He was first elected in 1999. He served as minister for state in the Union Shipping Ministry in the Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee-led government.
