Home Minister Amit Shah arrives in Srinagar on two-day visit

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah reached Srinagar today on a two-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir.

This is his first visit to the state after assuming charge of the Home Ministry in the 2nd tenure of BJP-led NDA government at the Centre.

Union Home Secretary Shri Rajiv Gauba and other senior officials from the Ministry are accompanying Shri Amit Shah during the visit.

After his arrival at Technical Airport in Srinagar, the Home Minister headed towards Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) to chair the high-level meeting to review the arrangements, including security plan for the peaceful and smooth conduct of upcoming 46-day annual Amarnath Yatra beginning on the 1st of July.

Shri Amit Shah is also scheduled to review the status of developmental activities including Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) that is under implementation in the state.

Home Minister is also meeting BJP workers and Panchayat members separately this evening. He will meet some delegations and also meet families of BJP workers who have been killed by militants in the Kashmir region.

Shri Amit Shah is scheduled to co-chair a meeting of Unified Headquarters with State Governor Satya Pal Malik tomorrow morning to review the overall security situation in the state, particularly in the Valley.
