M. Venkaiah Naidu becomes NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate

Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu was declared NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate for the post of Vice President. He filed his nomination papers on July 18. His name was proposed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Finance and Defence Minister Shri Arun Jaitley and External Affairs Minister Smt. Sushma Swaraj.

Shri Naidu was accompanied by BJP National President Shri Amit Shah, senior leader Shri Murli Manohar Joshi and other party legislators.

On the occasion Shri Naidu thanked Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, BJP National President Shri Amit Shah, BJP’s. Parliamentary Board and NDA’s alliance partner for nominating his name.

“I will uphold the dignity of the office of Vice President of India if elected,” Mr. Naidu said adding that he would look to strengthen the parliamentary democracy.

“I wanted to see Mr. Modi come back to power in 2019 and after that I wanted to resign from active politics. But destiny has other plans for me,” said Shri Naidu recalling his association with the BJP. “I am no longer a member of the BJP or any political party now,” he said.
