PM MODI COMMENCES AUCTION PROCESS FOR COMMERCIAL MINING OF 41 COAL MINES

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, on June 18 started the auction process of 41 coal mines for commercial mining. This move of the central government will open up the country’s coal sector to private companies. Shri Modi described it as a major step towards becoming a self-reliant India.

  • On the occasion Prime Minister Shri Modi said that the country will win its battle against corona virus infection and turn this crisis into an opportunity. This epidemic will make India self-reliant.
  • Allowing coal mines for commercial mining is expected to generate a capital investment of Rs 33,000 crore in the next five to seven years in the country.
  • Shri Modi said that the beginning of the auction process is like taking the country’s coal sector out of the ‘decades old lockdown’. India’s target should become the world’s largest coal exporter.
