PM Modi reaches Bhutan on two-day state visit

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has reached  Bhutan on a two-day state visit.  He was received at the Paro airport by the Prime Minister Dr Lotay Tshering and several senior ministers . Prime Minister Shri Modi also inspected the Guard of Honour. The children and youth queued up with Indian and Bhutanese flags at most of places along the 50 kilometer road from Paro to Thimphu to greet Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

In his departure statement, Shri Modi said, his visit to Bhutan in the beginning of the current term reflects the high importance that the Government attaches to India’s relations with that country which is a trusted friend and neighbor. Shri Modi expressed confidence that his visit will promote India’s time-tested and valued friendship with Bhutan and consolidate it further for the prosperous future and progress of the people of both the countries. He said, the two countries enjoy excellent bilateral ties exemplified by our extensive development partnership, mutually beneficial hydro-power co-operation and strong trade and economic linkages.
