He further added, “The next elections are not going to be fought on slogans and hollow promises. The next elections are going to be fought on the performance of the Narendra Modi government.

He said PM Shri Modi ensured that the Parliament functions smoothly but the opposition did not let that happen. Finally, Parliament was adjourned sine die without any remarkable achievement, the BJP National President said.

Taking a jibe at Congress President Rahul Gandhi, he said that BJP has only lost 2 seats but Congress has lost elections in 11 states.

He said people of the country have complete faith in PM Narendra Modi’s leadership and BJP will form the government in 2019 with a thumping majority, he said.

Shri Shah said, “A mongoose, a cat, a dog, they are coming together because they see water rising below them. So they are all in one boat.” Fearing the ‘Modi flood’, “a snake, a mongoose, a dog and a cat have come together to fight elections.” At a press conference in the evening, the BJP President said, “I was only talking in the context of ideologies.”

He continued, “I want to tell the Congress, BSP and all other opposition parties. Those assembled together do not match in ideologies but they have come together only because they are afraid of PM Modi.”

He said the BJP was not worried. “This is not the Golden Age of the BJP, the golden era of BJP will come when in West Bengal and Odisha BJP governments will be formed,” he said amid loud cheering.

The BJP President further said, “I sincerely wish that the Shiv Sena stays with the BJP”. Addressing a press conference in Mumbai after the BJP’s 38th foundation day convention the party President also ruled out simultaneous elections to the Lok Sabha and Maharashtra assembly.

When asked about criticism by some allies including the Shiv Sena and former ally Telugu Desam Party (TDP) that the BJP did not treat its allies well, Shri Shah said the Shiv Sena was still a part of the BJP-led government in Maharashtra. “Only TDP has left. In fact, we have gained more allies than we have lost,” he added.
