Suresh C. Angadi is No More

Minister of State for railways, Shri Suresh C. Angadi is no more. He passed away at the age of 65 on 23 September 2020. He was admitted in AIIMS in Delhi for Covid treatment.

Shri Angadi, born on 1st June 1955, served as Vice President of the BJP`s Belagavi district unit in 1996. In 2001, he was nominated as the President of the district unit and continued to hold that post until he was nominated as the party’s candidate for the Belagavi Lok Sabha constituency in 2004. He defeated his opponent of the Indian National Congress and became a Member of the 14th Lok Sabha. He was re-elected to Lok Sabha from Belagavi in 2009, 2014 and 2019. He held the distinction of never having lost an election since his first victory in 2004. In May 2019, Shri Angadi became Minister of State for Railways and served the office till his death. As a minister, he had approved the Suburban Commuter Rail project in Bangalore.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi condoled the demise of Shri Suresh Angadi. The Prime Minister said, “Shri Suresh Angadi was an exceptional Karyakarta, who worked hard to make the Party strong in Karnataka. He was a dedicated MP and effective Minister, admired across the spectrum. His demise is saddening. My thoughts are with his family and friends in this sad hour. Om Shanti.”

The Union Cabinet on 23 September organized condolence meeting and also observed silence for two minutes in the memory of Shri Suresh C. Angadi.

On the minister’s untimely demise, BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda took to twitter and wrote “Extremely saddened by the passing away of Central Minister Shri Suresh Angadi Ji. He was a remarkable leader who dedicated all his life for organization and went on to serve society with utmost diligence and compassion. My thoughts and Prayers are with his family and followers.”
Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah expressing condolence wrote, “Deeply pained to learn about the passing away of MoS Railways and senior BJP leader from Karnataka, Shri Suresh Angadi ji. He will always be remembered for his selfless service to the nation and party. My deepest condolences are with his family. Om Shanti Shanti Shanti”

The BJP National General Secretary (Organization) Shri B.L Santhosh in a tweet said “In a short span of 16 months Sri @SureshAngadi_had made a mark as an administrator with vision & compassion. As MOS Railways he did a lot for Karnataka & country. Today he succumbed to #COVID-19. Pray almighty for Sadgati to the departed soul. My thoughts are with the family.”
