Swatantra Dev Singh appointed as UP BJP President

BJP National President Shri Amit Shah on 17 July, 2019 appointed Uttar Pradesh Transport Minister Shri Swatantra Dev Singh as the new BJP President of Uttar Pradesh replacing former UP BJP President and present Union Minister Shri Mahendra Nath Pandey.

Shri Singh has worked at the grassroot level within BJP and has strong hold over party workers across the state. He became Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) state president in 2001, and worked in every district of the state in that capacity, developing a close bond with BJP workers.

Thereafter he became the state BJP general secretary for three consecutive terms. He was also the in-charge of Shri Narendra Modi Ji’s rallies in UP during the 2014 elections. He played important roles in 2014 Lok Sabha elections and 2017 state assembly elections. In the recently held Lok Sabha elections, Shri Singh was an co-in-charge of MP.
