Himachal Pradesh Election 2022 held

The Legislative Assembly elections were held on 12 November, 2022 to elect 68 members of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly. The votes will be counted and the results will be declared on 8 December 2022. The current term of the Assembly will end on 8 January.

The BJP is looking to win a historic second term in a state which is known for voting out the incumbent. In the 2017 polls, the BJP had formed a government after winning 44 seats. The Congress won 21 seats. The hill state had witnessed a record turnout of 74 per cent in the last assembly elections.

Himachal Pradesh has registered a record voter turnout at 75.6 percent in the recently held assembly election on 12 November. The State Chief Electoral Officer said in a statement. The state went for a single-phase voting. The highest polling percentage of 85.25 per cent was reported from the Doon assembly constituency and the lowest polling percentage of 62.53 per cent was in Shimla assembly seat at the end of the poll.
