Shri Chilakam Ramachandra Reddy from Mangalam village, Andhra Pradesh was associated with RSS since childhood. In 1994, January he took up the historical 1200 km Padayatra from Tirupati to Kurnool demanding water supply and peace in Rayalaseema. While he was in the Janata party, he held significant posts at state level. He also assumed the position of State President for BJP from 1999 to 2004, and took up various measures for strengthening the party from the grassroot level. He was able to expand the party’s base in all sections of the society.
The membership had risen from six lakh to 17.5 lakh during his tenure. Throughout his public life, he worked for the development of agriculture, irrigation projects, construction of houses for the backward classes and their upliftment.
