Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi visits India
Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi was on an official visit to India from 9-10 September 2024, at the invitation of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
This was the Crown Prince’s first official visit to India in this capacity.
The Crown Prince held bilateral discussions with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during the visit. The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the substantial progress achieved in recent years in the India-UAE Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and discussed opportunities to further widen and deepen the partnership in all areas of bilateral cooperation.
Both the leaders acknowledged that the success of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the recent entry into force of the Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) will provide further impetus to the strong economic and commercial partnership between the two countries.
They also underscored the need to explore new areas of untapped potential, particularly in nuclear energy, critical minerals, green hydrogen, artificial intelligence and cutting-edge technologies.
Following agreements have been signed:
• Nuclear energy cooperation between the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) and the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL). The MoU is expected to enhance cooperation in the operation and maintenance of nuclear power plants, sourcing of nuclear goods and services from India.
• A long-term liquefied natural gas (LNG) supply agreement between the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and Indian Oil Corporation Ltd.
• Strategic petroleum reserve cooperation between ADNOC and the Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserve Ltd (ISPRL).
• A production concession agreement for Abu Dhabi onshore block-one between Urja Bharat and ADNOC.
• An agreement between the Gujarat government and Abu Dhabi Developmental Holding Company PJSC to set up food parks in India.
