In a press statement, the BJP National General Secretary Shri Vinod Tawade on 10th September informed that under the ‘Sangthan Parv’ of the Bharatiya Janata Party, the respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had on 2nd September launched the national membership campaign of the party by renewing his membership. In just 8 days, under the membership campaign, the BJP’s membership number has crossed two crores. Here, for our esteemed readers, the objective, process, and organizational arrangement for the membership drive are discussed:
Key objectives of the Membership Drive Campaign and target of the membership drive
The objective of this membership drive is to increase more and more public support for the BJP and to connect and organize the people of the country with the BJP’s spirit of nation-building, the party’s ideology, and the plan to make India a fully developed nation by 2047. When the party launched the 2014 membership drive, that time the party with 11 crore members had become the world’s largest political party. In the 2019 drive, the party made 6,01,47,832 new members. After winning the 2024 Lok Sabha elections for the third time, the BJP’s first major public outreach campaign will use various mediums to register 10+ crore members. The party’s aim is to expand the party comprehensively from the national level to every state, city, village, and booth. Promote the BJP’s ideology and informational activities extensively to connect people from various social classes, castes, and communities with the BJP.
Process of becoming a BJP member
Mediums for obtaining membership are missed calls, the WhatsApp Chat Bot, scanning QR codes, and the NaMo App and Website. The person who is 18 years of age or above seeking membership of the BJP has to follow three steps to complete the membership process: At the first step to give the missed call, the link to the form

will be provided through SMS, and you have to fill out the details via the link received through SMS on your smartphone. At the third step, a membership card will be issued through SMS.
How can those who do not have a smartphone become a member
If a person does not have a smartphone, use the smartphone of a BJP worker or a friend. After giving a missed call, fill out the information via the link received and become a member. If there is no phone network in the area where the person resides, he/she can become a party member by filling out a paper form with the help of a BJP worker from his/her area.
Structure to run the membership campaign at the organizational level
–The primary priority of the membership drive is the door-to-door campaign. For this campaign, the party has prepared structure at the organizational level. A membership coordinator (Sadasyata Sahyogi) will be appointed at each Shakti Kendra. Membership Coordinators will participate in public outreach activities at Shakti Kendra other than their own. The outreach will last for 7 days, with contact being made at least once each day at a different booth. All segments of society will be engaged, including intellectuals, youth, women, farmers, backward classes, marginalized groups, and the oppressed.
–The party’s Karyakartas will interact with people regarding membership at bus
The primary priority of the membership drive is the door-to-door campaign. For this campaign, the party has prepared structure at the organizational level. A membership coordinator (Sadasyata Sahyogi) will be appointed at each Shakti Kendra. Membership Coordinators will participate in public outreach activities at Shakti Kendra other than their own
stands, railway stations, malls, markets, and other public places. The party has also established membership kiosks at key locations.
–In collaboration with the Yuva Morcha, each MLA/MP has to establish at least 5 kiosks in every Lok Sabha/Assembly constituency. The public will need to fill out forms on the NaMo app and receive their membership cards. Kiosks will include “Mera Parivar BJP Parivarmembership selfie booths.
–The campaign execution committees are formed at the national, state district, mandal, and Shakti Kendra levels. The national-level committee includes a National Campaign In-Charge, 4 Co-In-Charges, and 4 members. The state-level committee includes a state campaign in-charge, co-in-charges, and members. The district-level committee will have 3-4 members and should have at least one female member.
–At Mandal level, the party should have a three-member committee, and at least one member should be female. The lowest unit of the drive is Shakti Kendra; it has membership coordinators (Sadasyata Sahyogi).
Rationale behind giving so much emphasis on membership campaign by the party
The political party is one of the key channels in democracy through which aspirations of the people reach the government, and that aspiration translates into policy. So, the target of the BJP is to engage the maximum number of people and discuss the party’s ideology and the achievements of the Modi government.

Organisational Appointments in Jammu and Kashmir
The BJP National President Shri JP Nadda on 9 September 2024 made some new party appointments in Jammu and Kashmir.
The BJP National President appointed Shri Sat Sharma as the Working President of the J&K unit. Shri Nadda also appointed Dr. Nirmal Singh as the Chairperson of the party’s J&K Election Campaign Committee and Shri Choudhary Sukhnandan as the Vice-President of the Election Campaign Committee for the union territory unit.
According to a notification issued by BJP National General Secretary Shri Arun Singh, Shri Kavinder Gupta has been appointed as the Chairperson of the State Election Management Committee. The notification said these appointments come into effect immediately.
