‘Huge turnout signals change in State’

The Bharatiya Janata Party National Working President Shri JP Nadda reached Kolkata on 23 December, 2019 to lead a march in support of Citizenship (Amendment) Act. He was received by BJP National General Secretary in-charge of West Bengal Shri Kailash Vijayvargiya and other senior leaders of West Bengal BJP.

Shri Nadda addressed a public gathering at Shyambazar where he talked about the benefits that the people will reap from the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act. The march commenced from Hind Cinema-CR Avenue and later culminated at Shyambaza. “The huge turnout signals a change. As chief minister, Mamata Banerjee always kept her political agenda ahead of welfare of the state and the people,” said Shri Nadda, addressing the huge gathering.

“Since 1947, Muslims have progressed in India. Eminent people from the community have become presidents and vice presidents, chief ministers and chief justices. This is the beauty of our country. They increased in numbers while in Pakistan, minorities, who comprised 23 % population during Partition were reduced to 3%. How can Pakistan explain that?” Shri Nadda asked.

“People of Bengal are true nationalists. They always upheld values and culture of the nation. But there came a time when some regimes in the state did not give recognition to the national spirit. Today, Banerjee and her men are misguiding people on CAA,” said Shri Nadda. He added, “All CM Banerjee knows is appeasement nothing else”.

“CAA is meant to protect them and give them their right as citizens,” he said.
