As Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi addressed the nation on 78th Independence Day, the resolve of Viksit Bharat has further strengthened in the billions of hearts across the nation. While speaking from the ramparts of the Red Fort, the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi highlighted the vision of Viksit Bharat, calling the present age a golden era full of opportunities that may fulfil the aspirations of the nation for a ‘Swarnim Bharat’. The historic mandate given by the people to the vision and commitment of Shri Narendra Modi by reposing faith in him for the third consecutive term as the Prime Minister of the country is a reflection of the national aspiration of becoming a developed nation. As the faith of the people in democracy remains unshaken, the commitment to the ideals of ‘Nation First’ is paving the path for reforms and growth leading to the emergence of India on the global stage. Today, when the entire world is facing challenges in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, India has emerged as the fifth largest and the world’s fastest-growing major economy. The collective resolve and commitment of the people to see India as a developed nation has prepared the country to make significant strides in various sectors.
In the last ten years, the nation has registered huge achievements in every sector, making every Indian proud. As the per capita income has doubled, new records in employment and self-employment have been made with remarkable achievements in

every sector. While many reforms were implemented at multiple levels to strengthen banking and financial sectors, the banks have for the first time become connected to the common people, poor and middle-class families. As the nation is today proud of its successes in the ‘Fintech’ sector, roads have been constructed to connect the remotest regions and in the border areas, bringing these regions into the national mainstream of growth and development. The robust infrastructure built in the last ten years is now breaking the old shackles and enabling and empowering the poor, Dalits, tribal, oppressed, exploited, OBCs, women, and youth in the country. As four crore pucca houses have been constructed, three crores are now sanctioned to be built, as life of dignity has been ensured for the poor along with toilets, electricity connections, gas connections, social security, Ayushman cards, and many more facilities that are transforming the lives of the oppressed and deprived communities of the country. In the last decade, ten crore women have become part of the self-help groups, with one crore mothers and sisters becoming ‘lakhpati didis’. As the funds allocated to these self-help groups have been doubled from 10 lakhs to 20 lakhs, women have become guarantors and custodians of social transformation in the country.
While India is moving towards realising its dream of becoming a Viksit Bharat, the mantra of self-reliance is making it take huge strides in the defence and space sectors. The farmers have made the nation proud at the global level by creating records in food production and making Indian agricultural practices reach various corners of the world. The aim of making India the skill capital of the world has enthused the youth with new dynamism, opening the doors to multiple opportunities internationally. As the Prime Minister has reiterated his commitment to continue waging war against corruption, he pledged to create an environment of fear for the corrupt so that tradition of looting the people’s money comes to an end. He has rightly cautioned the society against the attempts to glorify corruption and make efforts to increase the acceptance of the corrupt practices; as such tendencies pose serious challenges to the growth of a healthy society. While he said that no stone will be left unturned in fulfilling commitments to change the destiny of 140 crore, he also called upon the people to fulfil their own responsibilities collectively, strengthen patriotic zeal and faith in democracy, and inspire the world with the achievements as India moves towards realising the dreams of Viksit Bharat.
