PM inaugurates Donyi Polo Airport, Itanagar

The Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated Donyi Polo Airport in Itanagar and dedicated 600 MW Kameng Hydro Power Station on November 20. It was the first greenfield airport in Arunachal Pradesh – ‘Donyi Polo Airport, Itanagar’. The name of the airport reflects the traditions and rich cultural heritage of Arunachal Pradesh and its age-old indigenous reverence for the Sun (‘Donyi’) and the Moon (‘Polo’). In a comment about the massive rise in air connectivity in the Northeast, the Prime Minister said “Yes it’s a massive change as far as connectivity in the Northeast goes. It enables more tourists to visit and allows people from the Northeast to easily travel to other parts.”

Twitter was flooded with people’s appreciation of the development initiatives launched by PM Shri Modi. Shri Narendra Modi responded to people on Twitter for their appreciation and said in a tweet “The people of Arunachal Pradesh are exceptional. They are unwavering in their spirit of patriotism. It’s an honour to work for this great state and help it realize it’s true potential.”
