PM Modi launches BJP Rashtriya Sadasyta Abhiyan 2024
Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi launched the Rashtriya Sadasyata Abhiyan 2024 at the BJP Central Office in New Delhi on 02 September 2024. BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda addressed the programme. Shri Nadda outlined the phases of the campaign and reaffirmed the target of the membership drive. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi was the first to take membership of BJP under this campaign through a missed call. The event was graced by prominent leaders including Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, Union Home and Cooperative Minister Shri Amit Shah, and other senior leaders of the party.
The First phase of the BJP’s membership drive, started with the blessings of the Prime Minister and will run until September 25. The second phase will commence on October 1 and continue until October 15. The active membership campaign will take place from October 16 to October 31. Following the national workshop on August 17, approximately 11,486 workshops have been conducted at the mandal level across 777 districts and more than 4 lakh booths.
Bharatiya Janata Party will offer membership through various channels, including missed calls, WhatsApp, the website, QR codes, the Namo App, and party slips. Missed call and WhatsApp number is 88 00 00 2024. This approach aims to achieve the target of membership drive.

Addressing the event, PM Shri Modi outlined the distinctiveness of the BJP in the Indian political landscape, underscoring its adherence to democratic values and internal democracy. “From the days of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh to the present, we have strived to bring a new political culture to the country,” the PM said.
Embody and nurture democratic values
He highlighted that for any political organization entrusted with power by the people, it is essential to embody and nurture democratic values internally. “BJP is the only party that expands its work by following democratic processes in letter and spirit, as per the constitution of our party, continuously making itself capable of living up to the hopes and aspirations of the common people,” Shri Modi said.
Paint ‘Lotus’ symbols on walls
Reflecting on the historical journey of the BJP, the PM recalled the early days when party workers, with unwavering dedication, would paint lotus symbols on walls, signifying their commitment and belief. “We are those people who painted lotus on the walls with devotion because we believed that the lotus painted on the walls will someday be painted on the hearts too,” he said. He added that even today, in some states, Bharatiya Janata Party workers live the same life and fight for their ideals.
Remembering the old days, Shri Modi said, “I have worked in the same organization for years. Sometimes, I also used to take similar meetings and visits. I was used to doing the accounting of membership campaigns. My training for this work was mainly done by Shradheya Sunder Singh Bhandari ji, and he was very insistent on this subject. He did not accept even a little here and there. Sometimes people also felt what would happen if they built a structure”. However today, we are seeing that the same structure has become a medium to fulfil the hopes and expectations of the country.
Aspirational District and Aspirational block
In our country, we have worked as a model for the entire world, especially for the developing countries of the Global South. And that is the Aspirational District and Aspirational Block. The district which till now, no one cared about, even the employees, wasn’t ready to go there to work, and is backward, we have made it an Aspirational District, an Aspirational Block. Our effort is to ensure that the state does not lag behind in the parameters of development.
He said we have brought about a very big change in the country. There was a time when border villages were known as the last villages of India. We decided that these are the first villages in my country. If these villages are on the edge of the border of India. If the first ray of the sun comes and is in the east, it will first touch that and reach us. That is the first village and that is why we have completely changed our thinking. He said we should make a special unit in those states that are border states and should start a membership campaign in these first villages. And we can make the entire village a fort of the Bharatiya Janata Party. When that village which is situated at the end of the border becomes the fort of the Bharatiya Janata Party, then it automatically becomes the fort of India. Shri Modi said for me, membership is not just for increasing the party’s numbers, my membership is also for strengthening my country and that is why I will leave those villages after turning them into forts. All this is possible due to the hard work of lakhs of Karyakartas.
33% reservation for women
Mentioning the 33% reservation for women in assemblies and Parliament, PM Shri Modi also suggested that the Sadasyta Abhiyan should focus on including individuals who can help maximize the success of women candidates in the Party. He said therefore, we should do this membership campaign considering it a sacred task. And when a person becomes a member, just like when a new child goes to school, what kind of environment do the parents create? They will do Tilak, feed them sweets, and make him wear good clothes. One should become a member with the same feeling. And I felt good today that I got a chance to become a member in this environment. I am becoming a member in a festive atmosphere. We should also turn the membership campaign into a celebration. The other person is joining our family,
which means we are feeling very proud that you have come to us. We should not feel that we have done you a favour by making you a member. No, you have come forward for the benefit of the country, it is a matter of pride for us. You have become one of our companions. What more blessing do we need in life than this? Shri Modi asked.
We accept democracy in the system
Highlighting the values of the party, PM Shri Modi further said, “Ours is a party that lives democratic values. We accept democracy in the system. We accept democracy in our thoughts. We accept democracy in our culture. Our membership campaign should be one that helps maximum people of the society to reach new heights. I would like you to start it in your area, in the polling booth that you consider a C-grade polling booth. Start the membership campaign from there. The one that you consider a C-grade polling booth in the last two or three elections. The one where you have received minimum votes. The membership campaign should be started there. Friends, challenging the challenge is in the veins of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Where there is simplicity, where there is acceptance, respect, and honour, it will be easy to get a membership there. We have to keep doing that, but where there is a challenge, we have to make the lotus bloom in our hearts and this is our criterion”.
Membership drive is an ideological and emotional movement
Shri Modi underscored the commitment and emotion behind the ‘Sadasyta Abhiyan’,
and said, “This ‘Sadasyta Abhiyan’ isn’t just a ritual. It’s an expansion of our family. It isn’t a game of numbers. It doesn’t matter the numbers we achieve. This membership drive is an ideological and emotional movement.
Shri Modi said today, the poor of the country have the most faith in the path we have taken, in our policies and in our decisions. That is why we have to move forward with that strength. I am sure that under the leadership of Nadda ji, the strength of the party’s organization is fully engaged, then this membership campaign will break all the old records. This membership campaign will reach many new booths. This membership campaign will be made in such a way that we can see the BJP flag at the first village of the country. With this one expectation, my best wishes to all of you, he said.
