5 years of abrogation of Articles 370 and 35(A)
The 5th anniversary of abrogation of Article 370 and 35A in J&K was celebrated across Jammu & Kashmir and other parts of the country om 5th August, 2024. The BJP organized a series of events including flag hoisting at multiple locations, whereas in J&K Senior party leaders including Union Minister Shri G Kishan reddy, National General Secretary Shri Tarun Chugh addressed the gatherings and made statements about how abrogation has been beneficial for people of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.The leaders highlighted the phenomenal growth and development happened at Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh under the dynamic leadership of PM Shri Narendra Modi after the abrogation 5 years’ ago.
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi recalled the Parliament’s 5-year-old decision to abrogate Articles 370 and 35(A), calling it a watershed moment that led to the beginning of a new era of progress and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh.
Shri Modi posted on X: “Today we mark 5 years since the Parliament of India decided to abrogate Articles 370 and 35(A), a watershed moment in our nation’s history. It was the start of a new era of progress and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir, and Ladakh. It meant that the Constitution of India was implemented in these places in letter and spirit, in line with the vision of the great men and women who made the Constitution. With abrogation came security, dignity and opportunity for the women, youth, backward, tribal and marginalised communities who were deprived of the fruits of development. At the same time, it has ensured that corruption, which plagued J&K for decades, has been kept at bay.
I assure the people of J&K and Ladakh that our government will keep working for them and fulfil their aspirations in the coming times.”
Abrogation a decisive move to deliver all-round development and bring peace to the region : JP Nadda
In a message on X BJP National President and Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Chemicals and Fertilizers Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda said, “Today marks the 5th anniversary of a transformative moment in Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh’s history—the abrogation of #Article370 and 35(A). Five years ago, our government, under the decisive leadership of Hon. PM Shri @narendramodi ji, took the bold step to mainstream Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh by abrogating these articles.
Prior to this historic decision, Articles 370 and 35(A) had kept the people of the region deprived of progress and development, acting as stumbling blocks on our path to comprehensive growth. The abrogation on August 5, 2019, was a decisive move to deliver all-round development and bring peace to the region.
Since then, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh has witnessed transformational growth and progress. This monumental change has opened doors to millions of opportunities for young minds and significantly boosted the region’s economy. The abrogation has truly set Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh on a path of sustained development and prosperity.
Abrogation of Article 370 and 35A strengthens grassroots democracy in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh : Amit Shah
Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah said that the transformative decision of abrogation of Article 370 and 35A has ushered in a new era of empowerment for marginalized sections and strengthened grassroots democracy in Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
