BJP Deputy Leader in Odisha Assembly Bishnu Charan Sethi Passes Away

Senior BJP leader and Dhamnagar MLA Bishnu Charan Sethi passed away on the 19th of September while undergoing treatment in AIIMS Bhubaneswar. He was 62 years old. He was a two-time legislator, a resident of Mangarajpur village under Tihidi block of Bhadrak district of Odisha.

Active in student politics, Sethi was first elected from Chandbali in 2000 and then from Dhamnagar in 2019. He was deputy leader of the opposition in the assembly. Shri Sethi had qualified for the Odisha Public Service Commission twice because of his poetic talent and straightforward approach. He shunned state administrative service for politics.Shri Sethi dabbled in journalism for a brief period as a sub-editor in a vernacular daily Bishesh Khabar published from Bhadrak.

The BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda condoled the demise of the leader and said in a tweet he received sad news about the passing away of Shri Bishnu Charan Sethi, senior BJP leader and MLA from Orissa. “He always strived for the interest of the people in the state. My condolences are with the bereaved family. I pray to God for the peace of the departed soul,” he said.

Governor Ganeshi Lal and several other leaders condoled the demise of Shri Sethi, who is survived by his wife, a son, and a daughter.
