Voting will start on November 07 and counting on December 03

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on 09 October, 2023 announced the schedule for assembly polls in five states— Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Telangana, and Mizoram. The announcement entailed details of the electoral process dates including filing of nominations, polling days and result declaration for all five states.

As per the information, Mizoram, the smallest of the poll-bound states with 40 seats, will vote on November 7. Elections in Chhattisgarh, which has a 90-member assembly, will be held in two phases on November 7 and 17. Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Telangana will go to the polls on November 17, 23 and 30, respectively.

Nearly 16 crore voters would be eligible to cast their votes in these elections, Chief Election Commissioner said at a press conference while asserting that strong measures are being put in place to make these polls inducement-free. While the BJP is in government in Madhya Pradesh, the Congress is in government in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, Telangana is ruled by Bharat Rashtra Samithi and Mizoram by Mizo National Front (MNF). During the press conference, the Chief Election Commissioner said these five states will have 1.77 lakh polling stations, of which 1.01 lakh will have a webcasting facility. More than 8,000 polling stations will be managed by women, he said.

‘BJP will win all 5 states’: JP Nadda



Bharatiya Janata Party National President Shri JP Nadda on 09 September, 2023 said BJP would secure a victory in the upcoming assembly polls in five states, as he welcomed the announcement of the poll schedule by the Election Commission.
Shri Nadda said that the BJP, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, would form the government in all the states with a majority. “The BJP will form a government in all states with a big majority under the respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s leadership and will work with commitment to fulfil people’s aspirations in the next five years,” he said in a social media post hours after the election schedule was announced.

Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah also reacted to the poll dates announcement, showing confidence in BJP’s win. He said, “Assembly elections have been announced in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Mizoram and Telangana. Welfare of the poor, good governance and development have been the hallmarks of BJP rule. I am confident that the people of these states will bless BJP with a majority under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji”.
