BJP raises its vote share by 3 percent to 39.09 percent

Election results for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) were declared on 07 December, 2022. Elections to the 250-ward were held on 04 December, with only over a 50 percent turnout. The election was largely seen as a three-way contest between BJP, AAP and Congress. But it ended up as a two-horse race, with Congress ending up with a single digit.

After the results, Delhi BJP President Shri Adesh Gupta has said that people of Delhi have given us almost 40% vote share alongwith 104 wards and responsibility as a strong opposition. We will constructively keep raising the issues of general public.

Key highlights of MCD poll results

The BJP won 104 wards while the Aam Aadmi Party won 134 of 250 wards.

The Congress won only nine municipal wards from 31 won by the party in 2017 civic body polls.

BJP managed to raise its vote share by three percent to 39.09 percent as compared to previous civic body elections in Delhi in 2017

The Aam Aadmi Party lost and BJP won in all three wards in it’s minister Satyendar Jain’s constituency

BJP also won 3 of 4 wards in AAP Minister Manish Sisodia’s turf

Three former women mayors of Delhi who fought on BJP tickets emerged victorious.

All three independent candidates who have won are women.
