At a virtual interaction with PM Shri Narendra Modi on 13 July, Google CEO Mr. Sundar Pichai appreciated the Prime Minister’s leadership skills in order to combat the novel Coronavirus outbreak in India.
- Mr. Pichai said that PM Modi-led government’s lockdown implementation set up a very strong foundation of India’s battle against the pandemic.
- He briefed the Prime Minister about the efforts undertaken by Google to help spread awareness and provide reliable information about Covid-19.
- In a major initiative from Google, Pichai announced an investment of ₹75,000 crore in India through ‘Google for India Digitisation Fund’.
- Addressing the Google for India event, Pichai asserted that the latest move is a reflection of the company’s confidence in the future of India and its digital economy.
