Bharatiya Janata Party National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda ji released the manifesto of Manipur State BJP for Manipur assembly elections in Imphal, Manipur on Thursday. The Chief Minister of the State Shri N. Biren Singh, State BJP President Smt. Sharda Devi, BJP in-charge of Manipur Dr. Sambit Patra, Election manifesto committee chairman and union MoS for external affairs Dr R. K. Ranjan & Maharaja Sanjaoba Leishemba and many senior party functionaries were also present in the press conference.
During a press meet held at the party’s state office here on Thursday, Shri Nadda said that we know Manipur is a land of positive vibes and has immense energy. It has an abundance of talent and is the gateway for development of the Northeast. The state has seen a sea-change in the last five years under the dynamic leadership of N Biren Singh Ji under the guidance of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji. The state has undergone a change from instability to stability and from stability to the big leap forward – we will ensure more development in the future. The state has gone from insurgency to peace, from divisive politics to a united Manipur. The state was known for blockades and bandhs, but is now known for development, peace, prosperity, and coming forward. It is now known for sports as well. Road connectivity is one of the most important factors for bringing development in a society and the government is putting its focus on it. The BJP government delivered the promise of Makru and Barak Bridges within a short span of time. Conditions of state highways have improved and funds have already been sanctioned for improving inter-district connectivity. With the improvement of inter-state connectivity and development initiatives taken up by the government, the state will become a major hub under Act East Policy.
The Hon’ble BJP National President said that our manifesto is not a piece of paper, it is our commitment. for the next 5 years about the work we’re set to do in Manipur. It is our track record that we do, what we promise. We will fulfill each and every promise made in this manifesto and then will back to you in the next election. Our manifesto has been prepared with due consultation and due diligence. Approximately 1.2 lakh aspirations were collected and discussions were done with all communities. Empowering women, youth, farmers are our focus areas. We’re also furthering support to the deprived, poor and needy. The area of focus will be infra, health and education for all classes of the society. He also said that the manifesto has been prepared after collecting opinions and suggestions from different sections of the public while upholding the interest of every section of the society by following the ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayash’ slogan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji.
Talking on the main highlights of the Manifesto, Shri Nadda said, we commit that we will provide two free LPG cylinders to PM Ujjwala beneficiaries. This will empower the women and the poor. We’re also going to provide free scootys to all college-going meritorious girls in Manipur. Girls from economically weaker sections (EWS) and backward sections will get an incentive of Rs 25,000 for their education and development. We’ll also provide free laptops to all meritorious students passing Class XII. This will be their gateway to higher education.
The Hon’ble BJP National President said that we’re going to increase the monthly pension of senior citizens from Rs.200 to Rs.1,000. Financial support to farmers under PM KISAN will be increased from Rs.6,000 to Rs.8,000. Extra Rs.2,000 will be paid by the Manipur BJP Govt. Free accidental insurance will be provided worth Rs.5 lakh to all fishermen in Manipur. We will open Manipur Skill University for skill development of the youth of Manipur. Our BJP Govt of Manipur will provide Scholarship to the children of small, marginal and landless farmers pursuing technical education at the graduate and post-graduate level. We will open an AIIMS in Manipur to ensure people don’t need to go to Guwahati or Kolkata for treatment. We will ensure 100% coverage of Ayushman Bharat & CMHT schemes.
Shri Nadda told the reporters that we’ve decided to start an Aspirational Block Programme – on the lines of the Aspirational Districts Programme of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi Ji. This will facilitate development in these blocks across sectors such as health, infrastructure, education, employment, connectivity and more. ‘One Sub-Division, One Product’ programme is also being started in the state – products will be popularized, getting national and international market attention. Black Rice has already got a GI tag – a good example. This will bring the market to Manipur. Under the Good governance scheme of BJP Govt of Manipur, we will expand the coverage of doorstep delivery of all central and state govt schemes under the Go to Village and Go to Hills scheme.
The Hon’ble BJP National President said, for tourism and economy, we’re starting FOFO trains – Follow Foothills Trains. This programme will be implemented with support from GoI. We will be giving loans for developing homestays. We will establish the Loktak Mega eco-tourism project. To boost entrepreneurship in Manipur, the BJP Manipur Govt will establish Rs.100 cr Start-up Manipur Fund to provide zero-interest loans of up to Rs.25 lakhs. We will also provide interest-free loans to MSMEs for technology upgradation, capital requirements and to enable better market access.
