PM undertakes aerial survey of Cyclone Amphan affected areas in West Bengal & Odisha

PM Shri Narendra Modi on 22 May, 2020 visited the state of West Bengal and Odisha to review the situation arising out of Cyclone Amphan. Accompanied by Governor of West Bengal Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar & CM Ms. Mamata Banerjee, PM undertook an aerial survey of the cyclone affected districts of West Bengal. 

  • Thereafter, Shri Modi chaired a meeting of all the senior officers and announced a financial assistance of Rs. 1,000 crore, for immediate relief activities, to West Bengal.
  • PM also expressed his solidarity with the people of West Bengal and expressed deep sorrow to the families who have lost their kin during the calamity. He announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased and Rs. 50,000 to the seriously injured in the cyclone in the State.
  • After the Arial survey in Odisha, PM Shri Narendra Modi also attended a review meeting with Odisha Governor Prof. Ganeshi Lal, CM Shri Naveen Patnaik and others on the cyclone situation in Odisha and announced Rs. 500 crore financial assistance to Odisha for immediate relief operations.
