Voting For Congress means promoting the politics of opportunism: JP Nadda

| Published on:

Bharatiya Janata Party National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, addressed three huge public meetings in Tingkhong (Dibrugarh), Titabor (Jorhat) and Behali, Assam on March 22 and called the people of state to vote BJP back to power with full majority to maintain the pace of development in Assam.

Shri Nadda asked the people of Assam that “Do you want peace or unrest?” Need backwardness or prosperity? He further said that if you want darkness, unrest and backwardness in Assam, then vote for the Congress, but if you want development, peace and prosperity, then vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party. He said that Congress always says something while doing something else. Congress believes in dividing the society.

Key Points of the Speech:

  • The huge support and enthusiasm shown by the people of Assam makes it very clear that the people have made up their mind to vote for the Bharatiya Janata Party. It’s the Bharatiya Janata Party and the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) that has been foremost in serving the people, worrying about Assam and working to take Assam ahead on the path of development.
  • To vote for the Congress means to give space to politics of opportunism, do away with development and to push Assam again on the path of darkness and chaos. The only aim of the Congress party is to indulge in the politics of opportunism and greed, while on the other hand the Bharatiya Janata Party ’s core agenda is to work for the state’s peace, prosperity and development.
  • Whenever the Congress leaders come here, they try to show pictures of themselves in tea gardens, however these gardens are not in Assam but in Taiwan and Sri Lanka. Those whose thinking is devoid of the soil of India, those who don’t even think about the soil of Assam, how can you expect them to work for the development of Assam.
  • In Kerala, the Congress party has entered into an alliance with the Muslim League, on the other hand in Assam it has sided with Badruddin Ajmal to fight the assembly elections. Whereas, in West Bengal, the Congress has partnered with the Maulana of Furfura Sharif to fight the elections in the state.
  • The people of Assam would remember that former chief minister of the state and a big Congress leader, Tarun Gogoi had also criticised Badruddin Ajmal, but his son today is close to Badruddin Ajmal. If this is not politics of opportunism, then what is?
  • So far the Bharat Ratna has been given twice to two eminent personalities from Assam. First, it was our most respected leader, Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji whose government had conferred the Bharat Ratna to Shri Gopinath Bordoloi and then our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji conferred the highest civilian honour in India to Shri Bhupen Hazarika ji.
  • This time in the upcoming assembly elections in Assam, we have to decide whether we will vote to save and conserve the culture and tradition of Assam or will we vote for Badruddin Ajmal, under whose leadership the state is being divided? As the saying goes like the elephant, the Congress party too has a different set of teeth to show and to eat food.
  • During the Bodo struggle during the regime of the Congress party, around 2,155 people were killed, while about 2,084 security personnel laid their lives to save the state. Around 1,300 people were kidnapped too during that time. But it was under the leadership of our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi ji that the Bodo accord was signed and the Bodo struggle finally ended.
  • In this year’s Budget, the centre has allocated Rs 53,000 crore to Assam. Additionally, to construct national highways in the state, the centre has allocated another Rs 35,000 crore. On the other hand, for the upliftment and development of labourers working in tea gardens, the Narendra Modi government has allocated Rs 1,000 crore.
  • Earlier no one cared about giving land rights to the poor in Assam, but in the last six months, we have offered land rights to 3.30 lakh people in the state. The work on completion of roads could not take place as the people were not compensated, but after rights were given this work has also started.
  • The Bharatiya Janata Party in Assam has also worked on saving and restoring the Namghars. For every Naamghar, the Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state has allocated Rs 2.50 lakh. As part of Assam Darshan, work is on to restore around 9,000 Naamghars.
  • Former Prime Minister Shri Manmohan Singh was a Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha from Assam and he was also the Prime Minister for 10 years, but he was not able to get royalty on gas to the state. It was Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi who ensured that Assam gets its due.
  • This assembly election is about Assam’s peace, prosperity and security. It is only the Bharatiya Janata Party that can protect Assam’s honour, culture and traditions. In the last five years, the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the state has given a new lease of life to developmental initiatives in the state.
  • During the Congress government in Assam, a lot of Rhinos were hunted down in the state. After the Bharatiya Janata Party formed the government in the state, we clamped down heavily on hunting Rhinos. Under the Udaan scheme, Assam has got 14 new air routes. Today an industrial park for bamboo is being established in 75 hectares in the state.
  • The Bharatiya Janata Party government in the state also clamped down heavily on illegal immigrants. In the next five years, we will bring an end to all forms of illegal immigration in the state. To ensure more security and surveillance at borders, satellites are used as well as smart fencing is being done.
