                             ‘Rural India declared Open Defecation Free’

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the Swachh Bharat Diwas 2019 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on 02 October, 2019. He released postage stamp and silver coin to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. He also distributed the Swachh Bharat Puraskar to the winners. Earlier in the day, he paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Sabarmati Ashram. PM Shri Modi also visited the Magan Niwas (Charkha Gallery) and interacted with the children there.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi while addressing a gathering of Sarpanches at the ‘Swachh Bharat Diwas’ programme said that the entire world is commemorating 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and the event has been made more memorable after UN released a postal stamp on Gandhiji a few days back. He said that he had the opportunity to visit Sabarmati Ashram many times in his lifetime and today like every other time got new energy there as well.

‘Everyone contributed for cleanliness Drive’

Shri Modi said that today, the villages have declared themselves free from open defecation and he congratulated every countryman, especially those living in villages, Sarpanches and all those who have worked for ‘Swachata’.

He added that irrespective of age, social and economic status, everyone has contributed in this pledge of cleanliness, dignity and respect.

He said that today the world is amazed by this success of ours and they are rewarding us. Entire world is amazed that India has provided toilet facilities to more than 60 crore population in 60 months by constructing more than 11 crore toilets, he added.

Public participation and voluntarism has been the hallmark of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan and the reason for its success, the PM said. He thanked the entire country for the wholehearted support provided for the mission.

Stressing on the importance of public participation, the Prime Minister said that collective efforts are essential for the success of important government initiatives like Jal Jeevan Mission and eliminating single use plastic by 2022.

The Prime Minister said that his Government is committed towards realizing the dreams of Mahatma Gandhi. In this context, he mentioned about the initiatives of the government to ensure self-reliance, provide Ease of Living, and taking development to the last mile. He urged the public to take a resolution for the betterment of the nation and strive hard to make it successful. He added that such 130 crore resolutions can bring about a massive transformation.

PM Shri Modi visited Sabarmati Ashram in Gujarat to address 10,000 Sarpanchs. He also declared India ‘Open Defecation Free’ and success of the Swachh Bharat Mission and launched a war against plastic.

PM said that Gandhi Ji’s commitment to peace, harmony and brotherhood remained unwavering. He envisioned a world where the poorest of the poor are empowered. His ideals are our guiding light.

Union Home Minister and BJP National President Amit Shah flagged off party’s nationwide Gandhi Sankalp Yatra on 02 October, 2019 from Shalimar Bagh in New Delhi to mark 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Shah said, Gandhi ji showed the path of truth and non-violence to the world and his satyagraha movement brought the British to their knees.

Remembering Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, Shri Amit Shah said, “Gandhiji’s satyagraha movement brought the Britishers to their knees. He showed the path of truth and non-violence to the world.”

Speaking on cleanliness drive, Shri Shah while taking a jibe at the Congress-led rule said, “Those still living in Congress’ era, if they throw waste here or there then their grandchildren pin-point them and asks them to put garbage in dustbins.”

He urged people to take a pledge not to use single-use plastic from today as it is very harmful to the environment and health.

The BJP President said, “Party Karyakartas across the country will travel 150 kilometer from 02 October, 2019 to 31st October to spread the values of Gandhiji to the masses. The Karyakartas will work to spread the values of Swadesh, Swadharma and Swadeshi to every village and every household”.

Padyatra as part of ‘Gandhi Sankalp Yatra’ launched on October 02

BJP Working President launched ‘Gandhi Sankalp Yatra’ from Najafgarh

The Bharatiya Janata Party launched a padyatra drive to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The padyatra is part of the BJP’s Gandhi Sankalp Yatra, which began on Gandhi Jayanti – October 02, 2019 and will end on Mahatma Gandhi’s death anniversary – January 30, 2020. The padyatra requires the BJP leaders to walk around 10 km per day for 15 days between this period.

BJP National Working President Shri JP Nadda has written to all MPs, MLAs and other leaders of the party about how ‘Gandhi Sankalp Yatra’ will be celebrated beginning from October 02.

In the letter, Shri Nadda stated the BJP will begin the Gandhi Sankalp Yatra from October 2 which is the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation.

He stated, “This drive will begin from October 02 and ends on January 30, 2020.”
“In this drive, every BJP MP, MLA, MLC, office bearer will complete 150-km journey in 15 days in their respective parliamentary constituencies,” he said. With Gandhi Sankalp Yatra, the BJP aims to cover around 3 lakh villages across India.

Each MP is expected to cover around 150 kms within a fortnight. The total target for all leaders is to cover close to 5 lakh kms, while meeting and interacting with people in at least 2,90,610 villages. The maximum could go upto 3,87,480 villages.
According to the instructions issued by BJP National Working President, the BJP leaders are expected to :

1- Walk: Minimum 75 kms and maximum 225 kms in 15 days

2- Wear: Only Khadi clothes and carry only khadi bags

3- Speak : About Gandhi ideals and how they connect with the BJP government’s key schemes like Ujjawala Yojna, Grameen Awaas Yojna, Make In India and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

4- Raise: slogans which reference to Mahatma Gandhi, including Bharat Mata Ki Jai

5- Eat : At villages they will visit. The instructions ask BJP leaders to eat all meals and snacks at specific villages through the day, while interacting with locals. The leaders are also expected to sleep at the last village of the day’s trip.

 6-The instructions say that if any party leader is unable to complete his or her everyday target of 15 kms, they should assign responsibility to someone who’ll complete it.

7- During the padyatra, the leader should be accompanied by 50 to 100 party Karyakartas.

Shri JP Nadda has also instructed the leaders to promote their activities during padyatra through social media via live feeds, regulars picture and video posts.

‘Being ODF just one step towards Swachh Bharat’

Providing toilets to more than 60 crore people in 60 months, building more than 11 crore toilets, the whole world is stunned by this: Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi said at ‘Swachh Bharat Diwas’ programme in Ahmedabad.

He said ‘Open Defecation Free India’ is just one step towards the Swachh Bharat. The people who have been deprived of a toilet facility would soon get it, the PM said.

UN released a postal stamp to make this occasion memorable

The whole world is celebrating Bapu’s birth anniversary. A few days ago United Nations (UN) released a postal stamp to make this occasion memorable, now commemorative stamps and Rs. 150 coins have also been released in Ahmedabad, PM Shri Modi said.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi said that the United Nations had this time celebrated Mahatma Gandhi and paid tribute to the father of the nation.

‘Plastic major threat to sanitation, environment and animals’

Sanitation, conservation of environment and animals, all these things were dear to Gandhi ji. Plastic is a major threat to all of them. So, we have to achieve the goal to eradicate ‘single-use plastic’ from the country by the year 2022, PM Shri Modi said in his address.
