The BJP leader and MLA of Ramnagar Assembly Constituency and former Cabinet Minister of Government of Tripura Shri Surajit Datta passed away in Kolkata on December 27, 2023. He was under treatment in a hospital in Kolkata. He was 69 years old.
The BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda said (via X) on the demise of the leader “Saddened by the passing away of BJP MLA from Ramnagar assembly constituency in Tripura, Surajit Dutta Ji. His passing has left behind a deep void in the state’s political landscape, and he will be remembered for his commitment to public welfare. I extend my sincere condolences to his family members. May the almighty give them strength to bear this pain. Om Shanti.”
BJP National General Secretary (Organization) Shri B.L Santhish posted a condolence message on X and said,Sri Surajit Datta , @BJP4Tripura MLA breathed his last after a brief period of illness. He was a senior leader of the party and a popular 7-term MLA from Ramnagar AC. Pray god to bless the departed soul with eternal peace and strength and to family & friends to bear the loss. Om Shanti”
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha expresses deep condolences to the bereaved relatives.
He said,“Saddened & pained by the demise of senior politician & sitting MLA of Bharatiya Janata Party Shri Surajit Datta (Sunu Daa) during treatment in a hospital outside the State. His demise is an irreparable loss in the State’s political arena. May the departed soul find eternal peace! My deepest sympathy to the bereaved family. Om Shanti.”
As a mark of respect, the government of Tripura announced a one-day State Mourning on 28 December.”, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha tweeted.
The former CM of Tripura posted on X “He was the brightest example of how to take a place in people’s hearts. From the time I started working as the Tripura Pradesh BJP President, I was fortunate to have his guidance and affection as a guardian and, above all, a political mentor. You will be missed.
