BJP wins Big in Karnatka Civic Body Elections

BJP on September 7 won 35 of the 58 wards in Belagavi City Corporation. BJP won 35 seats, Congress 9, independents 13 and AIMIM got one seat. Polling percentage stood at 50.41, with around 2.2 laky people came out to vote on September 3. BJP has won 39 seats out of 82 in Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation. In Kalburgi civic body, the BJP secured 23 seats out of 55 and 12 seats out of 31 in Benguluru rural. This is the first time in the history of the urban local body that elections were held on the basis of party affiliation.

Congratulating Karnatka BJP for the victory BJP National President Shri JP Nadda in his message said, “Thank you to the people of Karnataka for trusting the BJP in the three city corporation elections of Belagavi, Hubballi-Dharwad and Kalburgi. Congratulations to the @BSBommai Ji, @nalinkateel Ji and all the karyakartas, who have ensured that BJP won bigger than it did last time”.

Describing the BJP’s good performance in civic elections Chief Minister Shri Basavaraj Bommai said the results were a indicator to the shape of things to come in future. He said the party had faced the corporation elections under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, former chief minister B. S. Yediyurappa and party State president Nalin Kumar Kateel. He thanked voters for backing the BJP.
