BJP National Working President Shri J P Nadda addressed a huge pro Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) rally in support of the Amended Citizenship Act, in Panaji, Goa on 03 January, 2020.

Thousands of BJP workers from several constituencies of Goa and common people who came spontaneously have arrived in the state capital to participate in a road show, which began at Patto business district, to the city’s central square, Azad maidan.

Shri Nadda put the CAA in context and exposed the Congress mis-propaganda against it.

Speaking to the massive gathering Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to speak ten lines on the CAA. “I challenge Rahul Gandhi to speak ten lines on the CAA and spell out his opposition in two lines,” Shri Nadda told the pro CAA rally in the state capital, Panaji. BJP National Working President said it was a shame that parties with long histories did not know the legislation well. “I feel pity for the Congress party today. I pity their thought and knowledge. Congress, NCP, which have such a long history, this is what their leaders have been reduced to that they do not know what CAA is!” Shri Nadda said.

Christians and Muslims in Goa are in support of the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and have demonstrated that they have not fallen prey to the opposition’s misleading campaigns, Goa Chief Minister Shri Pramod Sawant said. Addressing the rally to support for the Citizenship Amendment Act, the chief minister said the gathering of people from across the socio-cultural spectrum was enough indication of the support the newly amended law had in the state.

“Minorities and Christians are being misled that the Citizenship Amendment Act is targeting them. But you have shown with this rally that Hindus, Muslims and Christians support the CAA,” Shri Sawant said. He said the Goa residents had nothing to fear from the act which was being used by the opposition to spread fear. “They are frightening people by claiming the Portuguese passport holders will be evicted.

4 pro-CAA Congress leaders quit party in Goa: 3 of them join BJP

Four Goa Congress leaders resigned from the party on 2 January, 2020 to protest against its stand on the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and three of them joined the BJP, ahead of the party’s rally in Panaji.

Former Panaji Congress block committee president Prasad Amonkar, North Goa minority cell chief Javed Sheikh, former block committee secretary Dinesh Kubal and former youth leader Shivraj Tarkar quit the party, saying they were in favour of the amended citizenship law. Amonkar, Kubal and Tarkar later joined the BJP, ahead of the party National Working President Shri J P Nadda’s public awareness rally on the Citizenship Amendment Act in Panaji.

“We resigned from the Congress because we oppose the wrong stand taken by it on the CAA and the National Register of Citizens. We found that Congress party was misguiding people, especially the minorities,” Amonkar said. Congress should stop “misleading people and creating fear in the minds of minorities for political mileage,” he said.
