The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has issued the 12th instalment of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, reiterating the commitment of his government to the welfare of the farmers. The Prime Minister also launched the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Urvarak Yojayan—’One Nation, One Fertilizer’ scheme to ensure farmers have access to affordable and high-quality fertilizer. At the same time, the farmers of India are also given a huge hike in the MSP of the Rabi crops, ranging from 104 percent to 50 percent of the cost of production. The Modi government has not only fulfilled the commitment to provide 1.5 times the cost of production of various crops but has also brought many new crops under the MSP regime. While the list of crops has been significantly increased, the procurement has also been very high, bringing massive relief to millions of farmers across the country. The Prime Minsiter’s vision of doubling farmers’ income can be seen getting implemented through a large number of schemes securing the future of agriculture in the country. The Modi government has not only empowered the farmers through various schemes but also paved the path of future development, reflecting the vision of ‘Amrit Kaal’. The government is committed to improving farmers’ capabilities, promoting advanced agriculture techniques, and making their lives easier by transforming them into economic assets and global players in the agriculture sector. This vision seems to be getting realised by the recent achievements of farmers during the COVID-19 pandemic. When other sectors were reeling under pressure, the farmers of India remarkably increased their production, making the entire nation proud. Today, India is leading in many agro-based sectors with its immense capabilities and has also become an exporter of many agricultural products.
