Sri Gopal Rao Tagore came to Vijayawada from Maharashtra in 1940 as an RSS campaigner to spread the Sangh across the country. Gopal Rao ji worked hard to expand RSS in the state and faced problems while doing the same. He joined the Jana Sangh party and worked for its expansion. During 1952-54, he travelled extensively in Rayalaseema and Circar, meeting with people from all walks of life, identifying potential leaders, and establishing BJS units in several districts throughout Andhra Pradesh. He was a bachelor throughout his life and dedicated himself for strengthening the organisation from the grassroots level. He was also instrumental in bringing new people into the party and laid strong for foundation for Jana Sangh through his hard work, simplicity & generous nature.
