Indian Navy Commissions First Stealth Destroyer INS Visakhapatnam

INS Visakhapatnam, A P15B Stealth Guided Missile Destroyer, was Commissioned into the Indian Navy in the presence of Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh at the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai on November 21, 2021.

This indigenously developed missile destroyer is packed with state-of-the-art weapons and modern technology. The Indian Navy’s primary objective is to keep the Indo-Pacific open, safe and secure and INS Visakhapatnam will strengthen maritime security and protect national interests of India.

In his message PM Shri Narendra Modi said, “Today is a proud day for India’s quest to become Aatmanirbhar in the defence sector. INS Visakhapatnam is commissioned into the Indian Navy! It is indigenously developed and will strengthen our security apparatus. Our efforts towards defence modernisation continues with full vigour”.
