The BJP National President Shri Amit Shah was on a two-day visit to Gujarat from 25 October, 2019 and inaugurated various projects worth Rs 1,500 crore in Gujarat.
Speaking at a function of the Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority (AUDA) on October 26, 2019 Shri Amit Shah asserted that Kashmir was on the way to prosperity after the abrogation of Article 370. He mentioned that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi took the responsibility of uniting Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) with India after commencing his second term. He also slammed the Congress for mistreating Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and maintained that not even a single bullet had been fired since then in J&K. Shri Shah also said that the development of the region was now possible.

Thanking the voters of Gandhinagar on the occasion, Shri Amit Shah remarked that the PM had accomplished the task of providing facilities to the poor- something which Congress could not achieve in the 70 years since Independence. He noted that projects worth 1500 crore had been inaugurated in the last two days, including the construction of more than 4,000 homes incurring an expense of Rs 275 crore. These projects also comprised control rooms, longest flyover, gymnasium, swimming pools, parks, and new pipelines to supply fresh water.

Moreover, the Home Minister reiterated the PM’s promise to supply drinking water to all households before 2024. Mentioning that more than 660 km of metro work had been completed, he added that projects worth Rs.4,796 crore had already been completed in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar under the smart city scheme.

Furthermore, Shri Shah said that 1.5 lakh homes had been constructed this year under the aegis of PM Awas Yojana. He observed that more than 60 crore people had been the beneficiaries of various government schemes since BJP came to power in 2014. Elaborating on this, he said that gas connections had impacted the lives of 13 crore people. Thereafter, he revealed that the government considered toilet construction as a parameter of development.

Reminding the audience of the lack of washrooms earlier, he said that teenage girls had to go out in the open. Subsequently, he emphasized that the PM had given topmost priority to the construction of toilets in the urban and rural areas. Finally, he expressed his satisfaction that more than 4,000 people would celebrate Diwali in their own houses this year.

Shri Shah also attacked the Congress over the issue of poverty eradication and said the country’s oldest party paid only lip service and hardly did anything to improve the condition of the poor. The BJP President said, “If all MPs focus on their constituencies, the condition of entire country would improve automatically.

“I am lucky … past MPs of this seat (his Lok Sabha seat Gandhinagar), be it Atal Bihari Vajpayee or L K Advani, have already built a strong foundation. This has made my work as an MP easier,” he said.

He added, “My priority will always be Gandhinagar seat and its people. My aim is to make it the best constituency in the country. I will try to make sure to be with you whenever you need me,” Shri Shah said in his address.

Shri Shah was there to lay foundation stones and inaugurate various projects, including a shelter home, integrated command and control facility, three newly developed gardens as well as water supply and road widening schemes. At the event, he also handed over keys of houses to the beneficiaries of Mukhyamantri Awas Yojna in Gandhinagar, besides handing out Ayushman Bharat health scheme cards.
