Addressing a huge public rally at Dibrugarh, Assam, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Shri Amit Shah on 12 April, 2023 said the BJP will once again form the government at the centre in 2024 and Shri Narendra Modi will become Prime Minister for the third consecutive term.

Criticising the opposition, Shri Shah said the more the opposition throw mud on BJP, the more the BJP will grow. He also questioned senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s patriotism, saying whenever he travels abroad, he criticizes the country, which no patriot would ever do. Shri Amit Shah said Congress has been wiped out from the northeast but if Rahul Gandhi continues to discredit the nation, the party will be wiped out from the entire country. “Rahul insulted India on foreign soil. The people of the country see and understand this as well. If he continues to spread lies and defame the nation, Congress will be wiped out off the entire country after being shown the door in the northeast,” he said.

The Union Home Minister said the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act has been removed from 70% of Assam and stressed that issues like insurgency and protests have become a thing of the past in the state and attributed the situation to Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

Shri Shah said the current situation prevailed because of Prime Minister Modi who worked to make the once troubled northeast see an end to extremism and experienced all-round development. “Bodoland and Karbi Anglong have also become peaceful. Border disputes with other states are being resolved. Earlier, Assam was known for ‘andolan’ and ‘ugrabaad’ but now, there is peace and people are dancing to the beats of Bihu music,” Shah said.

Shri Amit Shah also virtually laid the foundation of a regional office of BJP in Dibrugarh from the meeting venue. Chief Minister Shri Himanta Biswa Sarma and Union minister for ports, shipping and waterways Shri Sarbananda Sonowal were among those present in the rally.
