Phase 1 voting concludes for Chhattisgarh & Mizoram

The first phase of voting of Assembly elections for two out of five states was concluded on 07 November, 2023. Voting for 20 seats out of the 90-member Chhattisgarh assembly and the 40-member Mizoram assembly took place during the first phase.

A total of 174 candidates are in the fray in Mizoram and 223 candidates are contesting in the first phase of Chhattisgarh assembly elections. The provisional voting percentage in Mizoram was over 80.62 per cent while in Chhattisgarh, the first phase vote per cent was around 78.07.

The second phase of polling in Chhattisgarh along with single-phase polling in Madhya Pradesh will take place on November 17. Rajasthan and Telangana will undergo single-phase voting on November 25 and 30, respectively. To ensure a secure voting process, over 600 polling booths in sensitive areas, particularly in the Naxal-hit Bastar division, have been provided with a three-layered security cover.
