PM condoles demise of veteran singer and music composer

Renowned Music Director and Singer Bappi Lahiri passed away on 15 February,2022. Born as Alokesh Aparesh Lahiri into a Bengali family in Kolkata on 27 November 1952, he was an Indian singer, composer and record producer. The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the demise of veteran singer and music composer Shri Bappi Lahiri.

In a tweet, the Prime Minister said; “Shri Bappi Lahiri Ji’s music was all encompassing, beautifully expressing diverse emotions. People across generations could relate to his works. His lively nature will be missed by everyone. Saddened by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”

The BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda condoling the demise said, “Deeply saddened by the demise of popular music composer & legendary singer, Bappi Lahiri Ji. He will be remembered for his iconic singing. My condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”

His parents, Aparesh Lahiri and Bansuri Lahiri, both were Bengali singers and musicians in classical music and Shyama Sangeet who belonged to Lahiri Mohan Family of Sirajganj, East Bengal (Now Bangladesh). He was their only child. Bappi Lahiri debuted his Political career in 2014 by taking membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party on 31 January 2014.
