BJP has bagged a landslide victory in Tripura civic polls, winning all 14 urban bodies which went to polls on 25 November, 2021. As per the results announced by election commission, BJP won 312 of 334 municipal seats in Tripura Municipal Polls, which is 98.50 per cent of the total seats. The BJP also got all 51 seats in Agartala Municipal Council and with this, for the first time Agartala Municipal Corporation will function without an Opposition. Of the total seats, the BJP won 112 seats uncontested and in the remaining 222 seats registered a healthy 81.54 per cent voter turnout.
In the remaining 222 seats across 14 urban bodies that went to polls, BJP emerged victorious in 217. Whereas, the CPI(M), which won in all the urban bodies in last civic body polls, was able to win only three seats across three urban bodies. Trinamool Congress and TIPRA Motha won only one seats each. Polls were held for 14 of 20 urban local bodies in the state on November 25.

Shri Deb said those who tried to malign Tripura should see people from majority and minority communities together voted in favour of development under PM Shri Narendra Modi. The poll mandate was also a reply to those who tried to insult Tripura and demean it by conspiracies.
