“Navashakti Samavesh” in Bellary, Karnataka

BJP National President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda addressed a massive ‘Navashakti Samavesh’ in Bellary, Karnataka on 20 November, 2022.

Speaking to the people, Shri Nadda said Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is highly committed for the upliftment and empowerment of all sections of our society, specially the most backward Adivasis (tribals). The Narendra Modi Government is taking various steps to improve the living standard of our Adivasi brothers and sisters and to transform their lives.

He said the amount of work done and initiatives taken by Shri Narendra Modi for the welfare and empowerment of the Adivasi community is unprecedented, no other previous governments have done so much work for them as done by the Narendra Modi Government. Apart from development and growth of the Adivasi community the Narendra Modi Government has also taken several steps for their social, cultural and political autonomy and empowerment of our Adivasi brothers and sisters.

In the past 70 years post Independence, no political party made serious and honest efforts for the upliftment and empowerment of our Adivasi brothers and sisters. It is Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi who ensured the elevation of a Tribal woman who comes from an extremely poor background to the highest post of our country. Today, Smt. Droupadi Murmu is our Hon’ble President which is a matter of great pride for the entire nation. It is also a matter of great honour and extreme happiness for the entire Adivasi community.

It is only the Bharatiya Janata Party which has done the important work of bringing the tribal community to the national mainstream. In Karnataka, earlier it was done by our government under the leadership of Chief Minister Shri Yediyurappa and now this is being fulfilled by our Chief Minister Shri Basavaraj Bommai.

Key points of the speech

Congress always misused our Adivasi community merely as vote bank.

PM Shri Narendra Modi started the Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas celebrations to recognise the sacrifices and contributions of the Adivasi community and the Narendra Modi Government is constructing Janjatiya Museums across the country.

Earlier the budget for the development and welfare of the Adivasi community used to be just Rs 3,850 crores, but the Narendra Modi Government has increased by two and a half times to Rs 8,451 crores.

At the national level a total of 27 National Tribal Institutes have been constructed.

The main reason behind the development of these institutions is that research activities related to development and welfare of our Tribal communities can be done which will help the Union government in policy formation.

The Modi Government has taken special initiatives and launched various programmes and policies for the welfare and empowerment of our Tribal society which include development of Eklavya Residential Schools, scholarships for Tribal girls and boys, holistic development of Tribal villages, and medical and healthcare for Tribal communities.

In Karnataka the reservation for the Tribal communities have been increased from 3% to 7%. I call this step taken by our Chief Minister Shri Basavaraj Bommai as revolutionary and highly remarkable.

I thank and congratulate Shri Ramulu for this. With this historic step the lives and fortune of our Adivasi brothers and sisters will change forever.
