Shri PV Chalapathi Rao

Shri Pokkala Venkata Chalapathi Rao, who was popularly known as P. V. Chalapathi Rao joined the RSS as a bal swayamsevak in 1948. From 1950 to 1954, he started ABVP units in various colleges and universities in and around Visakhapatnam. He organized numerous activities under the guidance of Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay to strengthen Jana Sangh in his district in 1953. Due to his constant efforts, four councillors were elected to Anakapalli Municipality. In 1955, he participated in the Goa liberation movement. Shri P V Chalapathi Rao organised agitation against Chinese aggression in Uttarandhra region and collected funds to help the soldiers.

He was the State secretary for the Lok Sangharsh Samithi during emergency period. He organised underground activity for 19 months & created awareness against the emergency. He signed the legislative council meetings by escaping from police. The Andhra Pradesh government failed to apprehend him and he finally willingly surrendered himself to the government. His various feats of jumping from trains and disguising himself to avoid police during the underground movement were well publicised in the Uttarandhra region.
