Sushri Shyama Sharma : Story Of Selfless Service

Sushri Shyama Sharma from Nahan, Himachal Pradesh was a practising lawyer. She actively worked for social causes and for the labourers working for Yamuna Hydro Project demanding Wage Board. In chilly December Sirmaur Police had arrived to arrest her but she had jumped into the Tons River and reached Jaunsar Babar by night crossing the river in chilled night.

Thereon she moved to Delhi and remained underground for a year. She was arrested under MISA during Emergency and was in Central Jail Nahan for more than a year. She was the only woman from Himachal to have got arrested during the Emergency. She held the post of Minister of State (Independent).
